A concert not to be missed if you are near the Pasadena, CA area on August 12, 2006 at 8pm! As reported by Caltech Folk Music Society:
“The Secret Life of Banjos is a program of interactive banjolity never heard before on any world stage, featuring two masters of the five string banjo. Jody Stecher and Bill Evans bring a shared passionate lifelong involvement and fascination with the banjo to a concert that explores and celebrates the diversity, excitement, charm and history of one of America’s most celebrated but misunderstood instruments. You’ll hear solos and duets; original pieces, chestnuts and rarities; 19th century minstrel and classic banjo; bluegrass, rags, blues and old-time playing; banjo songs and instrumentals and much more, all performed on a vast array of fretted and fretless banjos with open backs and resonators, strung with strings of steel, nylon and gut and bearing names such as Gibson, Bacon, Cole and Vega.”

According to Folk Alley
“The soundtrack to the film version of Garrison Keillor’s public radio staple A Prairie Home Companion is coming in at #10 on Billboard’s Independent chart. Release on New Line, the CD features plenty of mighty fine songs from Robin and Linda Williams (they show up a lot on screen as well). It also adds proof to the assertion that folkish music soundtracks have lots o’ sale potential (along with a bunch produced by T Bone Burnett - Because of Winn-Dixie, Transamerica, Brokeback Mountain, Curious George, and We Were Soldiers to name a few).”
